HYPOACTIVE SOCIAL RUN/WALK/RIDE No 58

Start the Year with a Whole Lot of Fun

Event Date: 29th January 2017

Studley Park is quite possibly the best location for HypoActive Fun Run/Walk/Rides. It's truly picturesque, so close to the city, yet with all the looks and ambience of deep bush. It's a lovely spot. It has numerous and diverse paths and tracks, so type 1 exercisers can choose precisely how much of the puffy stuff they want to take on and whether they want a warm wooded workout or a rigorous riverside run.

And then there's the Boathouse itself. When the exercise ends, it's time for all to get their heads together, devour each other's feedback - and refuel on the delicious fare of the Boathouse cafe. Here they have all manner of delicious diabetic food. You might like to ponder the Belgian waffles with strawberries, maple syrup and vanilla ice-cream. I'm afraid I won't be there, but I'm going to ponder them anyway.

The meet for the January get-together is in the car-park at Studley Park (Yarra Bend Park) off Studley Park Road at 9.30 am (SHARP!).

John has drawn up a wealth of different routes and paths for type 1's to choose, depending on how much they wish to take on: 'There are two options on the day: the shorter distance being around 3 Km and the second around 5 Km - or 2 laps for 10 Km  - or more if you want. We will firstly do a flat lap and then head off across Kane's Bridge, along the Yarra River to Dights Falls and either out to Westfield Reserve then onto Yarra Bend Road or follow the Freeway directly to Yarra Bend Road and then back to the bridge.'

John just never stops running

If you know Yarra Bend Park well, I'm sure that will all make sense, if not, get in touch with John and he can send you a fantastic map with all the options drawn out in style.

So come along and join your fellow type 1's, family and friends in some exercise.  All welcome, regardless of fitness levels and everybody can determine how far they want to run, walk or ride. Another option is to just come and meet everyone at the cafe for refreshments around 10.30 am - we are a very accommodating group!

If you'd like to attend, or just want more info, please get in touch with John here.
