Type 1 Gazelles at Jells

Event Date: Jun 25th

Active type 1's - and some of the not so active ones - will be meeting as usual on the last Sunday of the month at 9.30 am (SHARP!), this time at fabulous Jells Park. And it really is fabulous. Fit for the fittest and a whole lot more besides. Wildlife that will drive you crazy and scenery that has to be seen to be believed. It’s a truly wide open space in the middle of suburbia that will take you all the way out to deep bush and an almost remote experience. All within easy reaching distance.

Jells Park nestles in the Dandenong Creek Valley at Wheelers Hill. Over 9 km of paths and trails wind their way through open spaces, woods, wetlands and billabongs, and round the magnificent lake. Although nearly a million people a year visit this park, you wouldn't know it and on a Sunday morning you'll probably be greeting just a few other walkers and people out for fresh air and healthy exercise. It’s a huge and splendid space.

HypoActive social (fun) runs/walks/rides are organised and hosted by John Thompson. Although John is an experienced runner himself, there's no pressure: everyone is welcome to come along to these get-togethers, no matter how strong or fit they are. You get to choose how far and how fast you want to exercise. In fact, you're welcome to come along just for coffee or a snack after everyone has finished their exercise and chat with other type 1's. This can be very helpful if you want to find out how other people have tackled the problems and barriers that lead to getting fit and getting healthy.

More details of the meeting place will follow. You can find out more about Jells Park and have a look at a map here: Parkweb: Jells Park
