At HypoActive, we believe diabetics should harness their insulin injected engines.

Exercise promotes a whole range of health benefits, and for diabetics, this is especially important. But it's not easy. It can be complicated and frustrating. No one wants hypos (or hypers) during or after exercise.

The mission statement for HypoActive is: to inspire and enable the Type 1 community to live a more physically active lifestyle.

We are your peers. We too go through the same challenges surrounding exercise in a busy lifestyle while managing type 1 diabetes. We welcome anyone who is interested in exercise regardless of their current level of activity and experience.

HypoActive Run Club: Social Run No 11

Event Date:
27 May 2012

John Thompson is the amazing Type 1 runner who organises these events and he's doing a fabulous job. The HA Social Runs are really taking off and attracting a great range of people living with Type 1 diabetes who welcome the chance to train, or even just meet with other type 1s in an informal atmosphere.

The next Run is in Westerfolds Park in Templestowe, usual 9.30 am SHARP start, but as always if you want to just turn up and chat about exercise strategies or eat diabetic food such as cake from the cafe, you are very welcome to join the crew at around 10.30 am.

RUN MELBOURNE - HypoActive Team Event

Event Date:
15 Jul 2012

Our next running event is The Age Run Melbourne, which offers participants a half-marathon, a 10 km run and a 5 km run or walk starting along St Kilda Road and finishing at Birrarung Marr. This range of choices should suit just about everyone, and we have registered HypoActive as a team.

With about three months to go, why not set out a training program and see if you can challenge yourself on the day? You will be in fabulous company.

He's been kind enough to spend some time writing up his experience in two reports. The first one reads simply like this: 'I entered the 2012 Melbourne Ironman Triathlon. I finished. It was good.' Awesome.

Now in its 7th year, the Herald Sun / Citylink Run for the Kids sold out all 33,000 places in just six weeks. This event raised $1.65 million for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal. HypoActive produced a team of 11 runners, 10 in the 14 km course and one in the 5 km option. Read John's report.

HypoActive Muray to Moyne 2012 - 10th Year of Epic Success

This year HypoActive once more formed a team of 15 riders to take the major challenge of the famous 520 km, 24-hour cycle relay across western Victoria, Woody's Murray to Moyne. The long ride proved to eventful and exhausting, but a brilliant experience for all those involved.
